2011 Holdbacks
2011 was my first year producing Leopard Geckos since 2000 and it wasn’t as successful as I would have liked. The combination of a group of first year breeders and a little rust on my part only produced six hatchlings. While that isn’t a two of those six turned out to be pretty interesting and we proved out Mack Snow breeder to be Het Tremper Albino in the process.
Surprise it’s an Albino!
Probably the nicest Leopard Gecko we’ve produced so far is this Sunglow RAPTOR from our Sunglow het RAPTOR male (The Dude) and our Mack Snow Eclipse het Tremper Albino female (Dot). In fact we didn’t know that Dot was het for Tremper until this beauty showed up in our incubator. I was hoping it would be a Snowglow RAPTOR but after a few months it doesn’t look like any of the Mack genes came along for the ride.
Interesting Pattern
The combination of our SHTCTB female (Shiny) and our male Sunglow het RAPTOR (The Dude) combined to make this Super Hypo with and interesting pattern on the back. I’m not sure where it came from since Shiny is only slightly banded and The Dude is completely patternless. It’s possible that the pattern will fade but I can’t see it leaving completely, only time will tell.
